We are always looking for families interested in hosting International language students
for periods ranging from 1 month to 1 year. The homestay program enhances the
student’s learning experience by providing them the opportunity to live, converse and
interact with an English language family.
What do I need to know to become a Homestay host?
Homestay families are expected to provide the following:
• Someone to greet the student upon arrival at the home.
• Assistance in planning the route to get to the school (establishing bus routes for
example)
• A key to the home which is returned upon departure.
• Assistance in obtaining a long-distance phone card.
• Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
• Inclusion in family events and activities.
Students are expected to do the following:
• Follow the rules of the household.
• Provide their own toiletries.
• Clean their own laundry or provide their laundry on the set day if the family will
be doing the laundry.
• Purchase their own transportation tickets.
• Advise the homestay family if they will miss a meal.
As a homestay family you are permitted to host international students from other
schools provided our student continues to have his/her own, unshared bedroom and
the other student is from another country and language group.
Homestay is a rewarding experience for both student and host. If you are interested in detailed information about Homestay please contact Cathryn at 905-972-0000.
